PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT (COMPUTER REPAIR AND SERVICE CHECK-LIST)

 BEFORE THE VISIT (CHECKLIST):  

  • Complete a copy of our on -line symptoms and inventory checklist (web check-in) or complete it with us over the phone (call 480-262-9598).
  • Please provide specific details about the problems your computer may be experiencing. Also indicate approximately when the problems started to happen. The specifics will allow us to recreate the problems and obtain a diagnosis faster. (For example: My computer freezes when getting onto internet or Outlook will not open attachments from anyone or I downloaded a music file now my computer shuts off at random times). 
  • Please list all items that you are leaving with us (For example: black leather laptop bag, Office 2007 CD, backup hard drive & power adapter). Note: Gold Canyon Computer Repair, LLC, is not responsible for any lost items which are not listed in this area.   
  • Please have the computer administrator account and password available at the time of the visit. 
  • We recommend you make a copy of all of your important information on the computer (like financial information, photos). We offer this service as an add-on: data back-up service a $25 flat-rate fee will apply for the following: Operating system replace and/or reinstall data backup if you choose to back up your documents to CD/DVD/other media.
  • Look at all of the Programs you use and make a list of programs you don’t use and ask us to remove them. This will free up space on your computer.
  • The customer is responsible for the licensing of any software or operating system that is installed or re-installed on any computer (e.g., operating system (OS) software Windows 2000, Vista, 7 or Microsoft Office CD). Note: additional charges apply for required (or optional) parts and/or hardware and software upgrades needed to complete the requested service. Prior approval needed.

PAYMENT AND TERMS:
Pick-up and Drop-off services $75 flat-rate (WE COME TO YOU!)
FREE pick-up and delivery for all Gold Canyon-Apache Junction residents and small businesses.  

On-site service fee of $75.00 flat-rate will be charged for the first hour of on-site repair work and $60.00 for each hr after billed in 30 minute increments. Gold Canyon Computer Repair, LLC will come to the client’s location and make the service call during normal business hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additional $25.00 fee will apply for service performed outside of normal business hours.

AFTER THE VISIT: Make your next follow-up appointment at the end of your visit.      

  • We recommend maintenance every 6 months. FULL SERVICE PC Tune-up $50: Includes running a series of utilities to clean your machine, quick launch and taskbar cleanup, delete unwanted files/programs, perform disk clean-up, install Windows critical updates, test and verify PC hardware and software functionality and if required, defrag your hard drive. Includes opening your computer tower to blow out and remove dust and pet hair which will optimize airflow and keep computer to be properly cooled.

Things you can do to maintain my computer.

  • Conserve Energy – Shut your computer off or put it in sleep mode when
    you’re at work, away from your computer or sleeping. When you set your operating system to automatically fall into sleep mode and eventually hibernate is an easy way to conserve energy.
  • Surge Protectors – if you are using a surge protector you can make adjustments, like turning off the entire surge protector to ensure peripherals don’t draw power when they aren’t in use.

Helpful Tips
• Periodically clean out history and Internet temp folders   • Set the days to keep the History to 1 day • Add frequently visited sites to you favorites folder
Troubleshooting
• Check for loose connections • Check power strip (may have kicked it loose) • Check monitor power button • Check batteries in wireless mouse/keyboard • Shut down program, then reopen • Reboot (CTRL+ALT+DEL) Check connection settings • Check with Internet Service Provider (ISP) (e.g., Mediacom, Qwest, etc) to verify they are not experiencing connectivity/downtime problems.

IMPORTANT: Unless your skilled technician we recommend you Leave Your Registry Alone. The wrong changes can make your computer non-functional.
